Yes and it has zero to do with who your Realtor is. It's the first step to buying a home in Connecticut because Realtors don't know how much home you can buy or if you even can. Sellers want to know you're serious and can buy their home before letting you show or see it. Call your lender and it takes less than an hour but is a critical step.
That's really not fair to you. Once upon a time, lazy agents would never get called and they'd leave the industry.
